Restored Merry Go Round
After a few weeks of hard work, lots of love, and some amazing talent the Merry-go-round has been returned to its rightful home. If anyone remembers from our last open board meeting, we had given up hope on restoring and fixing the iconic piece. For safety concerns the board voted to remove the piece and find something else to replace it with at a later time. Shortly there after an intrepid neighbor said that it was still worth saving and with some grit and determination set out to fix it. Many hands make light(er) work and was the case here as well. Following along the story via the (unofficial but very much useful) Facebook page we saw our neighbors come together to make sure that it was restored. It is with great pleasure we give a special Thank You to a few of those.

Adult Pool Party
The VGCA members are invited to the Adult Pool Party
July 24th from 8:00pm till 11:00pm
There will Food, Drinks, Music, and rumor is swimmers need to be on the lookout for sharks in the water. We’re going to need a bigger boat.
Got a New Neighbor?
Have you recently had a new neighbor move in? Let us know so we can welcome them to the Green. Did you recently move to the Green yourself and want some information on the neighborhood? Let us know as well and we will send over some information as well. We need help in knowing knowing when new neighbors move in so that we can send our welcoming committees. Parents/grandparents: Important pool info
Parents and grandparents: I am asking that each of you have a discussion with your your swimmers about this post. I plan to post it at the pool too.
Please remind your children (teenagers too) that the pool is to be enjoyable and fun but must be done safely. All pool patrons should be respected. Verbal and physical activities that are taking away from safe and enjoyable time at the pool is prohibited (not allowed). Please remind them to have fun but to be SAFE and RESPECTFUL to everyone.
The game of “bulldog” will be prohibited during swim practice as well as during open swim. The game has changed a bit and has lead to some issues. Feel free to contact me directly if you would like to better understand my decision on this. I am often up at the pool.
Alternatively, the lifeguards will allow “sharks and minnows” which is essentially tag in the water. This should be safer for all that are playing. If that morphs into what I (or the lifeguards) perceive to be unsafe, we will pull that too.
We want to continue to have our pool patrons enjoy the pool but BE SAFE.
Lifeguards have been informed to handle accordingly.

4th of July Events for 2021
Saturday, JULY 3rd
5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MUSIC IN THE PARK: The VGCA events team will provide family friendly DJ services. Bring you own dinner/snack and come on out and enjoy a fun filled evening with your family and cheer on our biathlon contestants.
6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. JUNIOR BIATHALON AND BIATHLON: A spirited race around VG with your family and friends. The Junior Biathlon consists of a 50m swim and a ¼ mile run around the park for children 8yrs and under. The Biathlon consists of a 250m swim and a 1.1 mile run for all ages and skill levels. Sunday, JULY 4th
9:00 a.m. DECORATE THE PARK: Come on out and help dress up the park for the day’s activities. Set up tables and attach festive decorations. Claim your spot on the grounds! A great way to get into the spirit and help make the park look right for the occasion.
10:00 a.m. UNCLE SAM’S BIKE PARADE: Fun for all!! Decorate your bikes and yourselves in your most patriotic colors and join in as we parade around the Green. The parade will be led by OUR local fire department, workload permitting. Neighbors, rest on your porch and cheer us on as we pass by. Participants gather at the clubhouse at 9:50 a.m.
10:45 a.m. NATIONAL ANTHEM: We will honor America and our flag with the playing of the National Anthem.
12:00 p.m. PICNIC IN THE PARK: Bring your favorite foods and enjoy a picnic with your neighbors while listening to music!
12:00 p.m. POOL IS OPEN FOR VGCA REC MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS ONLY: We will have some pool games around 1pm. It’s never to late to support our neighborhood and become a pool member at https://vgnn.org/join.
8:00 p.m. MOVIE IN THE PARK: We will present a family move to bring the 4th of July to a close. Bring your own chair and VGCA will provide the popcorn.

We have hit the 100 VGCA Recreation/Pool members goal and will be open for an additional 5 weeks dependent upon usage! Thank you to all you have joined this year and will continue to join! We will be open on Mondays from 1-6pm (slight adjustment for swim team) from July 12 through August 16.
This is the most pool members we have had since 2011 (oldest information on membership I have).

As announced during tonight’s swim meet, we are having a fundraiser for the swim team AND also have a great way to support your swimmer. So, parents and grandparents be sure to grab your VG Patriots T-shirts by filling out this form and placing your order. 2021 VGCA Junior 4th of July Biathlon
- When: 6:00pm on July 3rd (arrive no later than 5:45pm)
- Where: Pool and Village Green Park
- Who: VGCA Rec/Pool members and their guests that are 8 years and under
- What: Starts with a 50m swim (down and back) and finishes with a 1/4 mile run around the park.
- There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.
2021 VGCA 4th of July Biathlon
- When: 630pm on July 3rd (arrive no later than 6:15pm)
- Where: Pool and Village Green Park
- Who: VGCA Rec/Pool members and their guests — individuals can race or a team can be race.
- What: Starts with a 250m swim (10 lengths of the pool) and finishes with a 1.1 mile run around Village Green Parkway.
- There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for individuals as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for team entrees.
