Parents we need your help again

Our pre-teen and teen volunteers have worked extremely hard to open and staff concessions this year.  We are in jeopardy of having to close it due to the amount of trash that is being left around pool deck by their customers.  There are trash cans stationed around the pool deck and we are requesting that everyone use them.

I (and our volunteers) are asking all parents and grandparents to remind our swimmers and guests to make use of the trash cans.  If we continue to trash left on the deck then I will have to close concessions and it will not open the rest of the season.

Thank you for help get the word out.

Potential Water Aerobics Class

I had a VGCA pool member express interest in water aerobics.  We have a couple of options for times BUT most importantly, I will need someone to lead the group.

Options for the class could be any of the following days/times:

  • Saturday:  9am-10am
  • Sunday:  9am-12pm
  • Tues-Fri: 8pm-9pm (during lap swim)

This offering is based on someone organizing it and all participants must be VGCA Recreation (Pool) Members.

So, if you are interested in doing water aerobics and/or help organizing this please email me at [email protected] or txt me at 757-768-9326.

Adult lap swim 8-9pm begins June 22

New for this year we are offering adult lap swim from 8-9pm Tuesdays through Friday.  This will begin on June 22.  Swimmers will need to have a swim buddy in order to use the pool since this VGCA will not be staffing lifeguards during this time.  No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the pool area during this time.

I ask that members be considerate and flexible with me as this is something new and we will be making adjustments to the process as I learn more.  For now, please send me a text (757-768-9326) or message me on Facebook to let me know that you have a swim buddy and what day(s) you will be using it for the upcoming week.  There will be no walk-ups at this point.

Requirements are as follows:

  • Notify Donnie via txt 757-768-9326 or Facebook messenger on the day(s) you plan to use it.
  • Must have a swim buddy who will be there the entire time with you.
  • Must be a VGCA Recreation/Pool member.
  • Must be 18yrs or older.
  • No children allowed on deck.
  • Diving board usage and diving from the side is prohibited.
  • Lap swim or exercising in your lane is only activity that is acceptable during this period.
  • No lifeguard on duty, so it will be swim at your own risk.

The pool will open around 12pm today (June 19).  The Village Green Swim Team is having their time trials from 8-1130am today.  Thank you for your understanding.

Please note that both CGBD and HRA are great revenue streams for the pool and are helping us with ever increasing pool costs.

Concessions will be open as much as our volunteers are able to staff it.

Regular pool hours are as follows:

Memorial Day Fund our Fun

What an excellent Memorial Day event!!

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our raffles and came out to support the local businesses that were on site! The Hot Box Food Truck did an excellent job with their wonderful sandwiches. If you have a few minutes, please rate them on Facebook or Google to show them more support. Same with Sweet Frog, they always do such an excellent job for us and love coming here.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!

FUND our FUN is SO CLOSE to hitting our goal of $3,000 to get that full match from the VGCA!

We have $1460 raised from the Turkey Trot + Donations!

$1350 from the raffles + Donations!

That means we only need another $200 to reach our goal! Just because the raffles are over does not mean that we are no longer accepting donations.

Thank you again to everyone for coming out on Sunday!
