FALL LEAF CLEANUP

The time is here Neighbors. We need your help out at the park for the fall leaves. Saturday 28 November at 10:00 is when we are planning on getting started. Bring your rakes, tarps, leaf blowers and gloves and lets make short work with many hands. As a neighborhood the city has scheduled us as Zone 2 and that means leaves need to be out by the Curb by Monday 30 November. Now we all know that does not mean the city will make it to us on 30 November, but this is 2020 and crazier things have happened so lets just be safe. Here is the link to the City’s website for the leaf pickup.

This year we have an additional call to action to help one of our neighbors. The Hager Family have more than enough to worry about that we as Village can come together to assist in this small way by helping them get their leaves to the curb. Currently the plan is for Sunday for a few good neighbors to come together to help. However I have faith in our Community and think that we will have more then enough volunteers to be able to do both on Saturday.

As a precaution, bring your masks as well so that we are able to stay safe. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the VGCA Grounds Committee Lead Ryan Greene at grounds@vgnn.org or you can always reach out to crier@vgnn.org. Looking forward to seeing you there.

VGCA Turkey Trot 2020 Fundraiser

*****ATTENTION*****

In light of the currently imposed restrictions to gathering size due to COVID-19 by the Governor, we are going to stop accepting runners for the Turkey Trot. We greatly appreciate everyone’s efforts and will leave the registration open for donations. Efforts are still in place to ensure everyone is as safe as possible and still have fun. The best thing is to make sure you bring your mask and wear it until you start the Trot. Thank you everyone for bearing with us and helping to make this event a success still.

Sign up for the first annual VGCA Turkey Trot!  It will be held on November 21st in Village Green.  Adult 5K registrations for $15 and kids 1 mile fun run for $5. Hello Neighbors

As some of you may know, the Village Green Community Association held its annual Board Election Tuesday night (27 October). There were quite a few changes this year. The biggest change being the number of members who have volunteered to serve our community. Looking forward, we will have a full Board of Directors and seven Committee Leads. The following list is the new VGCA Board of Directors and Committee Leads.

  • President: Amy Nuttall
  • Vice President: Johnathan McBride
  • Treasurer:  Pete Fry
  • Secretary: Stephanie GianDionato

Committee Leads

  • Social Committee Lead: Audra Joyner
  • Grounds Committee Lead: Ryan Greene
  • Membership Committee Lead: Laura Cvitanovich
  • Neighborhood Watch Area Coordinator: Glenn Woodell
  • Pool Management Committee Lead: Donnie Woodruff
  • Communications Committee Lead: Josh Jordan (That’s me, Hi!!)
  • Governance Committee Lead: Andy Maciejewski

I would like to say a special thank you to Rich Spivak for his many years of service as Secretary. Rich stepped down this year from that role but will continue to volunteer to help with our Grounds Committee. I would also like to say thank you to the many volunteers who have helped make this neighborhood a community. Volunteerism is a core component to what allows us to have many of the amenities that we take for granted to include the playground, and pool. There is a large amount of work that goes into each of these areas and volunteers are always needed. If you see an area in which you would be willing to help in please feel free to reach out. We will be updating the email lists so that they reach the right people in the next few days. For now, if you email crier@vgnn.org I will put you in touch with the right people.

Finally, I will be doing my best to get the word out to our community as best as I can about events, news, and important updates to our community. If you catch someone being neighborly, volunteering, or they just did something extra nice for our community, call them out. Let’s make it a habit to recognize the good things happening here in the Green.

This year, because many of our families are not returning to school and fall sports and activities as they normally would, the VGCA voted to extend our pool season for the additional three weekends of September. In addition to our regular summer season, the pool will be open to current members on
September 12 – 13, 19 – 20, and 26 – 27 from 1 to 5 PM.

The Board, Membership Committee, and Social Committee would also like to extend this offer to ALL Village Green households. If you are currently not a member of the VGCA or haven’t gotten around to paying your membership fees, you can pay the $75 VGCA membership fee and your family can use the pool for the extended three weekends. Your membership will be good through March 2021. As a member, your family can also join in the children’s social events – Halloween Party and Breakfast with
Santa – and the miscellaneous adult events that we have scheduled for this fall.

The $75 fee covers basic operation and maintenance of Village Green including grass mowing, utilities, minor and major repairs, as well as insurance on our facilities. This continued maintenance and upkeep,
which is accomplished mainly by volunteers, helps maintain property values for ALL homes in the neighborhood. For less than you spend on coffee in a few months, you could be pitching in and improving our community.

If you would like to take advantage of the September membership drive, complete the attached form and return it to 625 Brandywine Drive by Friday, September 11 or drop by the pool on Saturday, September 12 from 1 – 5 PM. Your pool is waiting is for you!
