Frequently asked questions:
Q: Is the Community Association an HOA?
A: No. Village Green only has a Community Association, the VCGA.
Q: What is an HOA?
A: HOAs (Home Owner’s Associations) are typically created by developers to help pay for the maintenance of common amenities and to maintain a desired standard of appearance across the community. In an HOA, membership fees are usually required with the purchase of a home within the community. Once the neighborhood is completely built out—or all the homes have been constructed —a property management organization might take over the developer’s role with the HOA. HOAs are generally mandatory and can range locally from $50 to $250 per month ($600 to $3,000 per year).
Q: What is a Community Association?
A: A community association is a membership of neighborhood/community residents. Anyone, resident or non-resident, can join. Community associations may serve as social clubs, community promotional groups, service organizations, youth sports groups, community gardens, or quasi-governmental groups. The Village Green Community Association operates as a Social Club. Community association rules, created by a management board, dictate rules and monthly dues to fund management operations and community needs.
Community Associations are usually made up of volunteers working together to provide benefits to its neighbors and address neighborhood and community issues that may arise. They often hold social functions and may hold fundraisers. Community Associations do not have the legal ability to enforce fees or restrictions on residents.
Q: What is the cost to join?
A: There are several membership levels which range from $100 to $400. See the membership information at https://vgnn.org/join/.
