VGCA Pool Memberships for Aug 1st thru end of the season are now half price

We are offering 1/2 off our pool memberships effective August 1st. This is a great way to try out the pool and support our greatest asset.

We plan to be open through the end of September…which hasn’t been done in recent years! Making this an added bonus!

More info can be found here: https://vgnn.org/join/

Have you seen this at the pool for the past X number of years?

Many of lifeguards have scrubbed tiles and were unsuccessful on getting this off. Well a quick 5 minute search on Youtube and I found our answer. No harsh chemical…not crazy scrubbing. So, I demonstrated to one of our lifeguards and he spent less that 45 minutes this past Sunday and all the calcium scale has been removed.

I know a few lifeguards that have scrubbed and scrubbed for years. Rebekah was amazed at how easy it was and wish we would have known how to do that several years ago. I am sure Abby, Baxter, Justin, and other guards in the past can appreciate that this was cleaned in less than 1 hour!

The rest of us can enjoy the beauty of the pool and how we continue to learn how to take care of OUR pool!

Pool water been a bit warm lately???

The Watercannon swimming pool aeration system

The water in the deep end has been reading about 92 degrees the past 3 days. That’s nice but it doesn’t give much relief from air temperature that is 95-100 degrees plus it requires more chemicals to maintain a pool at such temperatures.

Our relationship with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins (CGBD) Swim Team might yield us a water cannon (similar to the one above) which will potentially drop our pool water temps 8-10 degrees. The goal is to make the pool more refreshing for our swimmers but also help CGBD’s swimmers out as well. The water cannon will also help save on chemical usage as well has improve the cleanliness of the pool. We plan to run the water cannon after hours and remove it during normal pool hours.

You can read more about water cannons and their benefits here: https://www.livingwatersaeration.com/watercannon-3-0

Want to see the pool open in September?

Well, that’s what we plan on doing and with no additional costs to existing VGCA Pool members! We plan to keep the pool open on weekends from 12-6pm thru Sept 27.

If you’re not a pool member…we will be offering discounted pool memberships beginning Aug 1st. Join and enjoy the best best looking pool on the Peninsula! No summer or fall sports? No Busch Gardens? No Water Country? Crowded beaches? Well, join the pool and enjoy it right in our neighborhood!

Pool pump repaired

We’ve been having some issues with the pump for quite sometime and a few days before July 4th we were seeing a decreased flow rate. After some research and investigation, we (Pete Fry, Ryan Greene, and Donnie Woodruff) spent about 2 hours disassembling the pump and installing the new impeller. After the repair, the flow rate is back to normal (actually slightly improved). Many of you have noticed the jets have more pressure and the pool is much clearer even with the heavier than normal usage.

It takes a lot of work to keep our greatest asset in top condition and takes many hands to do it! Thanks to all that have been involved since day 1 this year!

Dedicated swim lane for lap swimmers 1-8pm Tues-Fri

We’ve had a few folks inquire about having lap swim. So, Tuesdays thru Fridays (1-8pm) we will have one unimpeded lane dedicated to lap swimmers.

ALL PLEASE NOTE: Lap swimmers take priority in this lane, so parents of little ones please be aware of lap swimmers that are entering the pool to use the lane.

If there are no lap swimmers using it, children and families can use it for free/recreational swim. But please completely vacate the lane if/when a lap swimmer is using it.

Also, please make sure your older children do not hang on the lane rope. If you see any pool patron hanging on the lane rope, politely remind them not to hang on the rope. Let’s protect our investment together. It is acceptable for little kids learning how to swim to hold onto the lane rope.

Thank you and I hope our lap swimmers can make use of it.

Pool will be open on Tuesdays and next week’s reservation slots will be online tonight

We are pleased to announce we have enough lifeguards and are able to be open 1-8pm Tuesday thru Sunday (as normal).

Please remember, a VGCA Rec Membership and an online reservation is required to enter the pool.

Also, please be neighborly and give others a chance to reserve a time slot for the Shallow End Swim Lanes and the Baby Pool. My suggestion is not to book multiple time slots for the same day ahead of time (only choose one). If you are up at the pool and want to extend you time slot and the next 2 hour window is available, book it on your phone at that time. It’s quite easy.

I plan to post the reservation slots for this coming week sometime this evening…probably after 9pm.

July 3rd and July 4th activities

We are putting together a schedule and hope to release it soon. We anticipate things will look different this year, but we are hoping to provide a means for all of us to celebrate BUT do it safely. If you would like to help out, please reply on Facebook or email [email protected].

More information on the biathlon (junior and regular) will be coming out soon too.
