Location: VGCA Clubhouse
Proposed Agenda:
As the summer is creeping towards an end and with more VGCA Rec/Pool members using the pool this year, I wanted to remind everyone of the pool rules.
First and foremost, please enjoy yourself. Secondly, please abide by the Phase 3 restrictions and practice 10ft of social distancing while on the pool deck and in the pool. And finally, please read the pool rules and understand they are in place to provide a safe and enjoyable pool for our members to enjoy. Please click below for specific details.
If you have any questions a lifeguard can clarify or you can reach out to our pool manager at [email protected].

Due to last week’s Tropical Storm Isaias, high volumes of storm debris may delay bulk collections in your neighborhood. Storm debris is being collected separately from regular bulk waste. Be sure to place your regular bulk waste out for your regular collection day. Tree contractor debris is prohibited for curb pickup. The tree contractor is responsible for disposing of the debris. To review the bulk collections schedule visit the Solid Waste Division website. A portion of your street may be collected one day, while the rest of the street may be collected on another day. Storm debris is being picked up seven days a week. To ensure Public Works provides the most efficient waste collection services follow these guidelines: Set out storm debris as soon as possible.Separate vegetative storm debris from other bulk waste. Be sure to place the debris three feet from other objects (such as vehicles, fences, other bulk waste, carts or fencing).Do not to set out any items under power lines, trees or any low hanging objects. Park cars in driveways versus the street, when possible. For more information call 757-933-2311. |
This is an ADULT ONLY event, so the kiddos will need to stay home. Dress for a Luau Themed party and come enjoy a great evening at the pool. This event is for VGCA Pool Members and their guests (non VG residents).
7-10pm on Friday, Aug 14 at the VGCA Pool.
We will cook hamburgers and hot dogs, have cornhole, volleyball in the water, and other activities. Bring a dish and your favorite beverage(s). If you would rather bring your own food (not for sharing), feel free to do that too.
Please sign up by Thurs, Aug 13 as we will have a max of 50 folks.
If you have any questions, please see Jenn Greene and/or Donnie/Victoria Woodruff.

We were able to open the pool only 2 hours later than normal thanks to the hard work of our lifeguards and my assistant pool manager, Connor.
Thanks to a group of folks that came out last Sunday afternoon and after TS Isaias on Tuesday to work on clearing brush and removing a tree that fell from a neighbor’s yard. The team still has more work to do, but we are committed to cleaning the area up so it can be enjoyed once again. Thanks for all the hard work!
On Sunday, Aug 2 beginning around 3pm, we will be attempting to get the area by the tennis courts cleaned up. If you can come out to help that would be very much appreciated. Shoes pants and gloves are recommended as it’s quite overgrown and some poison ivy has been spotted out there. We hope to see many of you there. Bring shovels, rakes, garbage bags, and gloves to help. Weedeaters, chainsaw, hedge clippers, blowers, and lawnmowers might be helpful too.
Some folks have asked if we are going back to the pool reservations or swim lanes. The short answer is “No” BUT please continue to read below.
According to what I read (and I verified with our health inspector) we can continue to operate the pool as laid out in Phase 3 — which you can read more about here.
As you may have noticed, while I am volunteering as pool manager, I have been wearing a face covering as required by Phase 3. We would encourage others who visit the pool to wear a phase cover while on the pool deck BUT it is not required. Please do NOT wear it while in the pool.
What is required?
Also, any pool parties or events in the VGCA park must abide by the restriction of a maximum of 50 individuals in a social gathering.
If you have any questions, please me (Donnie Woodruff) or contact the VGCA Board at [email protected].
Be safe, abide by phase 3 requirements, and enjoy the pool!sd
