I want to share a cookie recipe from Sarah Winart and family, the amazing person who we all bug now to put something on the front Marquee. By the way, you can also reach her for all those requests at [email protected]. Thank You Sarah and Mat for sharing with us, this is going to be delicious.

Here is Matt and Sarah when they were engaged and he was visiting her and making cookies together!

Old Fashioned Butter Cookies

1 cup sweet cream butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp. orange juice

1 tsp vanilla

In a 3-qt mixer bowl, combine butter, sugar and egg. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce to low speed; stir in flour, baking powder, orange juice, and vanilla until smooth and well-combined. Chill 2 to 3 hours or until firm enough to be rolled. Preheat oven to 400. Roll out dough, 1/2 at a time, on well-floured surface to 1/8” – 1/4” thickness. Cut out with cookie cutters. Place on uncreased baking sheet. Bake near center of oven for 6-10 minutes or until golden brown on edges. Cool on wire rack. Frost/decorate. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

Butter Cream Frosting

3 cups confectioners (powdered) sugar

1/3 cup softened sweet cream  butter

1-2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla

In 1.5-qt mixer bowl, mix sugar and butter on low speed until combined. Add 1 tbsp milk and vanilla. Beat on high until fluffy (about 1.5 minutes). Add more milk if necessary for spreading consistency.
