Pool rules and assistance from parents

Parents — please help us keep our pool safe by reinforcing these rules and assisting the lifeguards where possible.
2024 VGCA Pool Season
We will be self-managing again this year, so we will have the freedom to make some of the changes to our pool season and save a considerable amount of money!
We are looking to do the following:
- Hours will be very similar to last year:
- Tuesday-Friday and Sunday 1pm-8pm (for 1st half of the season)
- Saturday 11am-8pm
- Open on Mondays if membership rates meet goals:
- 90 VGCA Rec/Pool memberships and we will open on Mondays thru July 3.
- 100 VGCA Rec/Pool memberships and we will open on Mondays for the entire season.
- Concession stand will be open during breaks.
- Sell pre-packaged foods, snacks, and drinks.
- Staffed by young volunteers.
- All proceeds will go to pay for the new benches on the pool deck.
- HRA will be using our pool on Tues/Thurs from 1:30-3:30pm BUT will be limited to 30 HRA swimmers per hour.
- Swim team will have meets against other pools on these evenings:
- Mon, June 24 — pool closes at 4pm for open swim.
- Mon, July 1 — pool closes at 4pm for open swim.
- Mon, July 15 — pool closes at 4pm for open swim.
Please note: we will monitor usage of the early Saturday hours and concession stand usage and adjust accordingly as the summer progresses.

Pool closing at 4pm on June 29 for rescheduled swim meet
The swim team had their swimmeet cancelled last week and it has been rescheduled for this Thursday, June 29.
The pool will be open 1pm-4pm on Thursday, June 29 to accommodate the need. HRA will be sharing our pool from 130-330pm too.

For children under the age of 10, please make sure they have a supervising adult or responsible teenager with them.
Lifeguards have been instructed to pay closer attention to this. Thank you.

- HRA will be using our pool on Tues/Thurs from 1:30-3:30pm BUT will be limited to 30 HRA swimmers per hour.

- Fri, June 16 — pool closed at 430pm for open swim.
- Mon, June 19 — pool closed at 430pm for open swim.
- Mon, June 26 — pool closed at 430pm for open swim.

Another VGCA pool season comes to a close
Another successful pool season is in the books!
Some of the key highlights:
- Concessions sold nearly $1200 in food and drinks. They turned a profit of $370. The profit has gone to help fund the concrete pour on the pool deck (removing bricks) and rental of a bobcat skid steer to clear the VGCA tennis courts of debris.
- 3 lifeguards called the VGCA Pool their “first job” and learned a lot.
- We had over 100 VGCA Rec/Pool members for the 2nd year in a row.
- We were open 7 days a week and had extended hours on Saturdays and holidays.
- Countless hours of fun and many children improved their swimming skills or learned how to swim.
Thank you to all the VGCA Rec/Pool members, volunteers, and our lifeguards who made this a great season. I am already looking forward to next season and the new group of lifeguards to call the pool their “first job”.
NOTE: Pool covering is tentatively scheduled for Sept 19 at 615pm. We will need about 12-15 strong teenagers/adults to give us a hand.
Pool hours for the next two weeks
We will try our best to be open the following days/times. It is all dependent upon availability of lifeguards as we are short staffed due to school, school activities, and scheduled time off.
- 4-7pm Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs (Aug 29-Sept 1)
- Closed Friday Sept 2
- 1-7pm Sat, Sun, Mon Sept 3-5
- 1-7pm Sat, Sun, Sept 10-11
