The time is here Neighbors. We need your help out at the park for the fall leaves. Saturday 28 November at 10:00 is when we are planning on getting started. Bring your rakes, tarps, leaf blowers and gloves and lets make short work with many hands. As a neighborhood the city has scheduled us as Zone 2 and that means leaves need to be out by the Curb by Monday 30 November. Now we all know that does not mean the city will make it to us on 30 November, but this is 2020 and crazier things have happened so lets just be safe. Here is the link to the City’s website for the leaf pickup.
This year we have an additional call to action to help one of our neighbors. The Hager Family have more than enough to worry about that we as Village can come together to assist in this small way by helping them get their leaves to the curb. Currently the plan is for Sunday for a few good neighbors to come together to help. However I have faith in our Community and think that we will have more then enough volunteers to be able to do both on Saturday.
As a precaution, bring your masks as well so that we are able to stay safe. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the VGCA Grounds Committee Lead Ryan Greene at [email protected] or you can always reach out to [email protected]. Looking forward to seeing you there.
I wanted to take a minuet to let you in on a few things going on around the neighborhood. As you all know the next big event is our First Annual Turkey Trot. A short 5K run for a good cause. What is that good cause you may have been asking? How about some new playground equipment to replace the current set we have in the neighborhood park. Thanks to many, many volunteers we have been able to keep the current set going. It’s to the point though that the current equipment will not be useable much longer. So our Social Committee volunteers have started a “Fund our Fun” program to raise money to get something for the kids to play on. Kids being kids they would play on anything given a chance. However, going down the slide with a crack in bottom might lead to more ripped pants than Mama Bear wants to deal with. The Goal is to fund and have a new set in place before next Memorial Day when our Summer activities really kick off. So as we post these events, and others that make our neighborhood a true Village, come show some support. Cheer on our runners as they pass by, volunteer to help out, or even just sending out a thank you to those who are hard at work to make some magic happen. Of course Donations are always welcomed. One big way to help out is to become a Village Green Community Association member to help us fund the upkeep of the entire Village Green.

In light of the currently imposed restrictions to gathering size due to COVID-19 by the Governor, we are going to stop accepting runners for the Turkey Trot. We greatly appreciate everyone’s efforts and will leave the registration open for donations. Efforts are still in place to ensure everyone is as safe as possible and still have fun. The best thing is to make sure you bring your mask and wear it until you start the Trot. Thank you everyone for bearing with us and helping to make this event a success still.
Sign up for the first annual VGCA Turkey Trot! It will be held on November 21st in Village Green. Adult 5K registrations for $15 and kids 1 mile fun run for $5. As some of you may know, the Village Green Community Association held its annual Board Election Tuesday night (27 October). There were quite a few changes this year. The biggest change being the number of members who have volunteered to serve our community. Looking forward, we will have a full Board of Directors and seven Committee Leads. The following list is the new VGCA Board of Directors and Committee Leads.
President: Amy Nuttall
Vice President: Johnathan McBride
Treasurer: Pete Fry
Secretary: Stephanie GianDionato
Committee Leads
Social Committee Lead: Audra Joyner
Grounds Committee Lead: Ryan Greene
Membership Committee Lead: Laura Cvitanovich
Neighborhood Watch Area Coordinator: Glenn Woodell
Pool Management Committee Lead: Donnie Woodruff
Communications Committee Lead: Josh Jordan (That’s me, Hi!!)
Governance Committee Lead: Andy Maciejewski
I would like to say a special thank you to Rich Spivak for his many years of service as Secretary. Rich stepped down this year from that role but will continue to volunteer to help with our Grounds Committee. I would also like to say thank you to the many volunteers who have helped make this neighborhood a community. Volunteerism is a core component to what allows us to have many of the amenities that we take for granted to include the playground, and pool. There is a large amount of work that goes into each of these areas and volunteers are always needed. If you see an area in which you would be willing to help in please feel free to reach out. We will be updating the email lists so that they reach the right people in the next few days. For now, if you email [email protected] I will put you in touch with the right people.
Finally, I will be doing my best to get the word out to our community as best as I can about events, news, and important updates to our community. If you catch someone being neighborly, volunteering, or they just did something extra nice for our community, call them out. Let’s make it a habit to recognize the good things happening here in the Green.
Come on out to the park at 7pm on Saturday, Oct 17th. Dress warm!
Bring an already carved pumpkin for the contest.
We will be watching Casper!
