Playset Work In Progress 11/11/21

PLAYSET PROGRESS TOMORROW: We are going to try to make progress on the new playset with the planned good weather and federal holiday. To reach the next phase, we need some extra hands in the morning (around 9-930a) to move the two structures into the new location in the park.  Once moved, we can continue with assembly as long as the weather let’s us tomorrow. Comment below or message Ryan Greene ([email protected]) if you are able to help with the move or the assembly.

Annual Call for Board Nominees

It is that time of the year again! Time to nominate your 2021-2022 VGCA Board of Directors. If you, or a neighbor, are interested in lending your talents to help improve our community by serving with this dedicated group of volunteer leaders, please get with Jonathan McBride or Andy Maciejewski for more information. Nominees must be VGCA members in good standing and be willing to commit to at least 8hrs monthly through attendance at board meetings and leadership. Board roles include – President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and committee leads (including Communications, Grounds, Governance, Membership, Neighborhood Watch, Pool/Clubhouse, & Social).

This year, we are really looking intently for someone with financial skills to serve as Treasurer and relieve Pete Fry who has diligently served for the last 11 years. The Treasurer leads the annual budget process, handles payments/ reimbursements, manages finances, and takes care of financial/legal filings with the support of other officers. Pete has offered to support the incoming Treasurer as they learn this important role.  A slate of nominees will be presented and elected at the Annual Meeting in October. The Nominating Committee can be reached at [email protected].

Our Volunteers are the Best

One of the most special things about our community is the many volunteers we have helping make things happen. It is because of them we are able to have such a beautiful area. Remember that the VGCA is a volunteer-based organization that is responsible for the community areas such as the park, the pool, and the fields below the power lines. To keep the voluntary dues low, we need many hands to take care of these large areas.

The neighbors that do the chores that many other communities would have hired out are amazing. They are part of the cohort of volunteers, and we do not always see them doing these amazing things. We do see the effects of the work they do and how it makes the Village Green better.

It is important to make sure that we do recognize the efforts of those that we do know about. From cutting the grass to running concessions at the pool, these amazing people have truly shown what it means to be a Village Green Neighbor. For the many that we have not been able to catch in the act, Thank You.

Ben Pritchard (youth) – pool prep and concessions.

Connor/Jacob Woodruff (youth) – pool prep and concessions. Painted baby pool too

Victoria Woodruff – pool prep

Evie, Belle, Joel, Isaac Block (youth) – pool prep and concessions

Nolan McBride – grass cutting, pool prep, and concessions

Glenn Magnussen – various grounds and grass cutting

Tom Howard – merry-go-round

Alan Ward – merry-go-round and headed up getting the hole by the tennis courts filled in.

Sara Winant and April Ham – marquee

Derek and Audra Joyner – movies in the park and food trucks

Jen Greene – movies in the park, cleaning up the tennis courts area with the youth

Tucker Frye – handles trash cans in park

Shiela (on Minuteman) – planted flowers at VG park bed

Phil Krause – cuts the field by the power lines near Plymouth and VGP

Thank you again. If we missed anyone, we are sorry. You have done amazing things.

If you would like to volunteer to help, reach out to any of the committee leads. We are always looking for more help as many hands make light work.

End of Summer Pool Party

As summer comes to a close, we will have an End of Summer Pool Party on August 28, 2021.  The pool will be open to all Village Green neighbors for this event.

Around 3pm there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, and possibly some other treats will be provided.  Consider donating to the Village Green swim team if you attend and/or grab a bite to eat.

Then roll into the End of Summer Party in the Park that will have Sweet Frog, crafts, and a movie (Disney’s Onward) with popcorn.

Thank you volunteers!

Volunteers are what make this neighborhood great!

Just yesterday, Phil K. volunteered to cut the grass on VGCA property under the power lines adjacent to Crown Point. It had gotten a tall and I am sure was not an easy task.  On top of that it was quite hot and humid.  Thank you!

Thanks to Ryan G. for assisting a neighbor on Prescott Circle and seeing that the underground electrical issue was resolved so we all would be safe.

From all those that do behind the scenes work…THANK YOU! This includes not only the adults in our community but many pre-teen and teenagers as well. Countless hours go into maintain our wonderufl neighborhood!  Village Green has a history of being a tight knit neighborhood and we get things done by volunteering and working together.  It is great to see this wonderful tradition continuing in the Green!

VGCA and our assets would not be possible without the MANY volunteer hours that are put in by our neighbors.  We understand that everyone does not have the ability to volunteer their time so consider joining for just $75/yr as a VGCA member.  This helps with paying electrical, water, and taxes to start but also in providing upgrades to our park, clubhouse, and pool.  Please consider joining at vgnn.org/join

Thank you!!!
