VGCA is sponsoring another movie in the park and will be presenting Frozen 2 beginning at 8pm. Please bring chairs and blankets and enjoy a frozen treat from VGCA and bring the 4th of July celebrations to a close.

We are putting together a schedule and hope to release it soon. We anticipate things will look different this year, but we are hoping to provide a means for all of us to celebrate BUT do it safely. If you would like to help out, please reply on Facebook or email [email protected].
More information on the biathlon (junior and regular) will be coming out soon too.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July! It started off with the annual parade throughout Village Green with the NNFD from Station #6 leading many of our neighbors and Uncle Sam. Look below for links to pictures taken by Wes Poole and Victoria Woodruff. Thanks for capturing these special moments!
Amy Nuttall coordinated this year’s 4th of July and the turnout was amazing despite the heat/humidity. THANK YOU!
Thanks to all of those neighbors that came out and enjoyed this wonderful tradition. A special thanks goes out to those who volunteered their time to make July 3rd and July 4th a memorable occasion for so many!
If anyone has video of the flag retirement ceremony, please contact [email protected].

The annual Biathlon was run again with some previous athletes (Carrisa and Candice came out of retirement) and equally important MANY new faces!!! What a great time. This is what Village Green is all about. Connor was DJ and official race starter due to a bicycle accident the day before. We had several last minute entries which made it fun and exciting. Coach Amy brought a distance runner with her and the Block children were resourceful in drafting teammates. (The Woodruff’s are starting their training for next year’s biathlon beginning tomorrow.) Team Potatoes shot out of the gate with a great swim and then rocketed around Village Green Pkwy with the fastest run — admittedly, they caught the race organizers by surprise!!!
We had to run 3 heats because we had 14 teams! That was amazing…and made it a bit of a challenge for the official timekeeper. 😉 Thanks for the 14 timers that were able to help out using stopwatches and cell phones.
Great job to all the participants and of course to all the winners!

The 1st annual Junior Biathlon was a SUCCESS and positioned these young athletes for future success in the Village Green Biathlon in coming years. We had 9 children participate…4 teams of 2 and 1 athlete that ran the grueling biathlon event by himself, Cameron (Coach Amy’s son). We had parents and spectators stationed throughout the cross-country track in the Village Green Park and these kids had a great time officially kicking off our 4th of July festivities this year!
Thanks to all the volunteers and spectators that came out and thanks to Connor for being the DJ and official starter for the evening.

Calling Village Green bakers of all ages!
We need your entries for our July 4th Patriot Bake-off Contest!
Let’s show our firefighters a little love and appreciation by giving them a lot of yummy treats to judge for our contest.
This year we will have 3 categories and a Kid’s only group:
Winners will be chosen in each category based on taste, appearance, and originality. One winner from all entries will be chosen as Most Patriotic.
Submissions must be homemade (not store bought) and must be baked or include a home-baked element. All entries are to be submitted as a whole (complete pie, complete cake, complete loaf, etc.) or in the quantity of a half dozen or more.
Registration is on day of the event between 11:00-11:25am at the picnic shelter in the park and will close 5 minutes before judging takes place.
Participants may enter multiple categories.
Participants may enter with any recipe (it does not need to be an original recipe created by the entrant.) Recipes may come from cookbooks, magazines, websites, or any other means.
Please bring a copy of your recipe.

Just a reminder that we’re now accepting candy donations for the bike parade at 678 Village Green Parkway. There’s a plastic crate behind our front brick wall. Or, if our front door is open behind the storm door, feel free to ring the bell and give us the candy in person. The cupboard is currently bare, so don’t assume someone else is donating all the candy we need.
Also, we’re still in need of a LOT more raffle prizes. We had a few merchants who donated something on the spot, but we’re still following up with others, not knowing whether they’re going to donate or not. If you know a business owner who might be willing to contribute a prize, please contact them. We have contacted pretty much all of the Tech Center businesses, plus Papa Murphy’s Yorktown, AMF bowling center, Regal Cinema and Azzurri Italian restaurant.
You can contact me at 652-5770 or [email protected] if you have any questions or if you’d like a copy of the raffle prize request letter which we have been giving to potential donors.
In less than 4 weeks, July 4th will be here. The VGCA Board has been asking for volunteers but to date we don’t have enough. We also need donations.
Amy Nuttall attempted to have a volunteer meeting on May 30th at the clubhouse and no one showed. We will need your help.
For those new to the neighborhood, it is a GREAT time and features a parade with a fire truck, kids riding their bikes in the parade, Uncle Sam throwing candy, a carnival, a cookout, the pool is open to all, raffles, and pool games.
Please lend a hand and reach out to Amy.
Please see this post on how to help out https://vgnn.org/july4th/

You can sign up online at the website or by contacting Amy Nuttall [email protected].
We will have a brief volunteer meeting at the clubhouse on Thursday, May 30th at 6pm. You may also bring any donations/raffle items you have collected.
In case you missed the original post, it is listed below.
Also, if you have helped in the past, please send Amy a note letting her know what you have done and whether or not you are able to help this year.
Original Post:
Our 4th of July celebration is 50, so let’s make it fabulous!!
We need volunteers to help coordinate this year’s celebration. There is a wide variety of tasks and no help is too small. We are hoping to have enough volunteers this year so that we can have a committee chair/lead for at least the following areas (click on links for more info):
There is a lot of work and we really need as many volunteers as possible to make this day a success.
One of the tasks that everyone can help with is to begin gathering donations for the raffle prizes. These can be gift cards, services, experiences, or items. There is always a lot of excitement surrounding the raffle, and this is a great way for everyone to be a part of it.
Please sign up on the links above or if you have questions, please email Amy Nuttall with any questions: [email protected].
