Clubhouse main waste line replacement

Cast-iron pipe failure: Are plumbing claims draining you? (Part 2)

After many years of dealing the cast iron waste line for the clubhouse, we are getting it repaired/replaced on Saturday, June 28.  We will have a porta john on site for those using the clubhouse and pool that day.  I know since I took the pool over about 8 years ago, we have dealt with this far too many times and paid for a plumber to snake it too many times too.  This year alone, I have had to snake it 5 times with one of my sons.

You can see from the pic above how “flushable wipes” and feminine hygiene products can easily get caught on a corroded pipe.  This is why I have been asking for your help for several years now.

A combination of rust and roots is what we believe to be the problem, which is expected on such old pipes.  With the new PVC waste line going in, we should not have any issues from our clean out to the City side for many years.

Even with a new pipe consider that under the slab for the clubhouse is cast iron piping and that is not getting replaced.  Continue to help save our pipes.

If you are unable to help volunteer throughout the year, consider donating to the main waste line replacement project — contact Donnie at [email protected] or 757-768-9326 directly.

VGCA To-do List 2025

It was suggested that I put together a “to-do list” so volunteers can accomplish tasks during the evenings or even during the weekday if they have time.

Here is the list.  Please text Donnie @ 757-768-9326 letting me know your name, which task, and approximately when it will be completed.  Or reply in the comment section on our FB Group.

I would like to have most of these items completed in the next 2 weeks (click on the thumbnails for more detail):

Recurring tasks:

  1. Every 2-3 weeks weed the flower bed at the entrance.
  2. Twice a month, weedeat the park especially near the fence line for pool.
  3. Weekly — blow street and sidewalk in front of park and leading to clubhouse.
  4. Weekly — empty trash cans in park.  Trash bags are with lifeguards.

One time tasks:

  1. Replace split rail fence on Prescott — Joe O
    • All materials provided.
  2. Paint trim
    • All materials provided.
  3. Fix door sill on women’s restroom.
  4. Repair door jam and paint trim.
  5. Pressure wash clubhouse.
    1. Concession side and front door already done.
    2. Need other sides done.
  6. Apply roof cleaner to the clubhouse roof.
    1. Roof cleaner spray applicator and hose provided

Help Save Our Pipes

Pool patrons and clubhouse renters you can help us with maintaining our pool and clubhouse.  One simple and easy thing to do is not to flush paper towels, feminine products and/or baby wipes down the toilet (even if they are deemed “flushable”).  There are trash cans in the each of the bathrooms, so please use those to dispose of those products.

You will now notice the extra decor (pic above) in our bathrooms as a reminder.
