VGCA To-do List 2025

It was suggested that I put together a “to-do list” so volunteers can accomplish tasks during the evenings or even during the weekday if they have time.

Here is the list.  Please text Donnie @ 757-768-9326 letting me know your name, which task, and approximately when it will be completed.  Or reply in the comment section on our FB Group.

I would like to have most of these items completed in the next 2 weeks (click on the thumbnails for more detail):

  1. Every 2-3 weeks weed the flower bed at the entrance.
  2. Twice a month, weedeat the park especially near the fence line for pool.
  3. Weekly — blow street and sidewalk in front of park and leading to clubhouse.
  4. Weekly — empty trash cans in park.  Trash bags are with lifeguards.

Need a few volunteers to help with split rail fencing

It is going on 12 years since Andy Fry’s Eagle Scout project where the split rail fencing was replaced (THANK YOU).

We are looking for a few volunteers to assist with replacing the split rail fencing along the access paths on Prescott, Plymouth, Valley Forge, and Brandywine.  The goal is to have it completed by mid May.  Send email to [email protected] if you can assist with the project.  If you cannot assist and would rather help with the funding, please let the board as well at [email protected].

Fix/replace split rail fencing on access paths leading to the VGCA park

    • VOLUNTEER(S) NEEDED for this.
    • Prescott, Plymouth, Valley Forge, and Brandywine
    • VGCA will provide materials as determined by volunteer(s).
    • TARGET DATE: by mid May

Here are few pictures of the disrepair.

VGCA owns nearly 7.5 acres

Did you know that Village Green Community Association (VGCA) owns approximately 7.5 acres in our neighborhood? On that land we have a clubhouse, pool, basketball court, playground equipment, park benches, picnic tables, pickleball courts, grills, and split-rail fencing along the neighborhood cut throughs in the inner loops.  These 7.5 acres add to the property value of all our homes and provide much needed green space in a city that is seeing that shrink. We are a volunteer run organization who perform all of the maintenance and upkeep on that property.

VGCA membership dues are very important for the neighborhood as it allows us to maintain these common areas, playground equipment, clubhouse, pickleball courts, and pool.

The VGCA membership drive continues for this year and VGCA always takes donations to pay for things such as gas and repairs for our lawn equipment.  Support VGCA by joining and possibly volunteering some time.

The VGCA Membership form can be found here:  https://vgnn.org/join

VGCA Park and Pickleball Court Clean Up on June 15 @ 9am-12pm

Come help clean up the park and pickleball court area.  Need about 10-15 people.

Saturday, June 15  @ 9am-12pm

    • A couple of pickup trucks to hall debris from back by the pickleball courts to the City dump.

What we plan to do:

    • Remove tree limbs and debris back by the pickleball court area.
    • Cut grass in park and pickleball court area (push mowers, blower, weed-eaters).
    • Remove some bushes that are overgrown (chainsaw and axe).
    • Move any mulch that is left.
    • Blow leaves away from pickleball fence and mulch with push mower(s).
    • Weed-eat the mulch bed at front of the park.
    • Reinstall the fence section that was damaged by the tree coming down (8-10ft step ladders).

Afterwards come back and enjoy the pool and get a hotdog or two during the Summer Pool Party — more info here:  Summer Pool Party – Village Green: An Oyster Point Community (vgnn.org)

Thank you!

VGCA membership dues are very important for the neighborhood as a portion of it pays for items and services that are not donated or must be fixed by skilled workers.

The VGCA membership drive will be starting soon…remember to support VGCA by joining and possibly volunteering some time. The 2021 VGCA Membership form can be found here:  https://vgnn.org/join

Eye opening perspective on VGCA Membership

Since March, we have been showing our VGCA Membership Drive information compared to our goal. The image above shows a more disconcerting view into our membership situation. Surprisingly, not even 1/2 of our neighbors are supporting Village Green and less than a 1/4 support our pool.

If you are a member, help us get the word out. Talk to your neighbors and ask them if they support the neighborhood. Ask them if they are seeing updates and emails from the Village Green Crier — if not direct them to the vgnn.org website…help promote our GREAT neighborhood!

For those not a member or not a pool member — consider that all residents (owners and renters) benefit from the pool, clubhouse, park, playground and manicured entrances by improved quality of life and attracting desired home owners/neighbors. This is a wonderful neighborhood…please consider joining as a VGCA member but it would be best that you join as a VGCA Rec/Pool member to help support our pool.

Here is the membership information compared to our goal of 225 VGCA members and 100 VGCA Rec/Pool members:
