VGCA Movie Membership Drive Apr 10 @ 7pm in the park

Audra (VGCA events coordinator) and her husband will be putting showing Raya in the park around 7pm on Saturday, April 10th.  A few VGCA board members will be in attendance to field questions and to accept memberships.  Please RSVP by going to Audra’s post on the Village Green Neighbors Facebook group so she knows how much popcorn to prepare.

We will also be able to answer questions about the Village Green swim team.  It’s an excellent way to learn how to swim and/or become a stronger swimmer.  Stop by and enjoy a wonderful evening with some amazing volunteers and neighbors!

Join VGCA 2021 Campaign

Thank you to all the homeowners and neighbors in Village Green who have made the choice to join our neighborhood association in previous years. Your $75 membership fee, a bit more than a dollar a week, was used to cover the many expenses our neighborhood incurs each year. Many of our expenses are not choices, they are absolutes because we as neighborhood share in the ownership of common areas.

In addition to ongoing repairs and improvements around the neighborhood, your dues went towards annual operating expenses such as the $4,607 we spent on insurance, the $2,450 we spent on electricity to keep the park lit and the pool pumps running, the $2,326 that went for water and sanitation for pool and clubhouse and the $1,022 in electricity to keep the park lit up and safe!  Village Green is a great neighborhood!  If everybody shares a small piece of the expenses to maintain it, we can make sure it stays that way or even better!

Your board members and neighbors are working hard to keep operating costs to a minimum.  Volunteers helped save thousands of dollars in Village Green in 2020!!!  Without them, we would have incurred thousands in additional costs for lawn and landscaping maintenance, building and pool repairs, and other professional services. We certainly understand that not everyone is able to volunteer time and services; we only ask that as good neighbors, you contribute to our shared effort through the payment of your annual dues.

Please join the Village Green Community Association for 2021. You may pay through Paypal – fees do apply – or download the membership form and fill it out. Forms with payment checks may be dropped off in the green mailbox in the flowerbed at 625 Brandywine Drive. The 2021 VGCA Membership form can be found here:  https://vgnn.org/join

Any questions concerning membership may be addressed to Laura at [email protected].

VGCA owns nearly 7.5 acres

Did you know that Village Green Community Association (VGCA) owns approximately 7.5 acres in our neighborhood? On that land we have a clubhouse, pool, basketball court, playground equipment, park benches, picnic tables, grills, and split-rail fencing along the neighborhood cut throughs in the inner loops.  These 7.5 acres add to the property value of all our homes and provide much needed green space in a city that is seeing that shrink. We are a volunteer run organization who perform a lot of the maintenance and upkeep on our property.

VGCA membership dues are very important for the neighborhood as a portion of it pays for items and services that are not donated or must be fixed by skilled workers.

The VGCA membership drive will be starting soon…remember to support VGCA by joining and possibly volunteering some time. The 2021 VGCA Membership form can be found here:  https://vgnn.org/join

Pool season will be here before you know it…

Happy New Year!  After our first snowfall of the year and a second one possibly coming on Sunday, I figured I would remind the pool lovers out there what will be here in a just 4 short months…

With that said…if you are interested in being a lifeguard at our pool, please send me a txt (757-768-9326) or email [email protected].

I am also looking for a couple of adults to help me with the pool this Spring and Summer as we will be self managing again this year since it was such a SUCCESS last year!

Hello Neighbors

As some of you may know, the Village Green Community Association held its annual Board Election Tuesday night (27 October). There were quite a few changes this year. The biggest change being the number of members who have volunteered to serve our community. Looking forward, we will have a full Board of Directors and seven Committee Leads. The following list is the new VGCA Board of Directors and Committee Leads.

  • President: Amy Nuttall
  • Vice President: Johnathan McBride
  • Treasurer:  Pete Fry
  • Secretary: Stephanie GianDionato

Committee Leads

  • Social Committee Lead: Audra Joyner
  • Grounds Committee Lead: Ryan Greene
  • Membership Committee Lead: Laura Cvitanovich
  • Neighborhood Watch Area Coordinator: Glenn Woodell
  • Pool Management Committee Lead: Donnie Woodruff
  • Communications Committee Lead: Josh Jordan (That’s me, Hi!!)
  • Governance Committee Lead: Andy Maciejewski

I would like to say a special thank you to Rich Spivak for his many years of service as Secretary. Rich stepped down this year from that role but will continue to volunteer to help with our Grounds Committee. I would also like to say thank you to the many volunteers who have helped make this neighborhood a community. Volunteerism is a core component to what allows us to have many of the amenities that we take for granted to include the playground, and pool. There is a large amount of work that goes into each of these areas and volunteers are always needed. If you see an area in which you would be willing to help in please feel free to reach out. We will be updating the email lists so that they reach the right people in the next few days. For now, if you email [email protected] I will put you in touch with the right people.

Finally, I will be doing my best to get the word out to our community as best as I can about events, news, and important updates to our community. If you catch someone being neighborly, volunteering, or they just did something extra nice for our community, call them out. Let’s make it a habit to recognize the good things happening here in the Green.

VGCA Open Positions

We have 2 positions we are looking to fill this year. If you would like more information about these positions and/or are interested in a position, please send email to [email protected].

VGCA Marquee Lead: Responsible for handling requests to post messages for VGCA members on the sign at the front of the neighborhood. Time Commitment: approx. 2-4 hrs a month.

VGCA Crier Editor: Post relevant content to update the neighborhood on vgnn.org which then sent via email as the Village Green Crier. We use WordPress for vgnn.org which is quite easy to use and post content on. Time Commitment: approx. 2-4 hrs a month.

Mon, July 27 (5-8pm) — Food trucks and Swim Meet

On Monday, July 27 we will have Kona Ice and Frank’s Monster Munchies back in the neighborhood. Please come on out and support this local vendor as well as the swim team as they kick off their last week of swim camp with an intra-squad meet. Please feel free to cheer on the kids from outside the fence as we will be limiting access to the pool deck in order to provide a safer environment for all.

PLEASE NOTE: Frank’s Monster Munchies will NOT be taking pre-orders this time.

Head up to the park, order some food, cheer on the kids while you wait, and then enjoy the delicious food from Frank’s Monster Munchies…support local and support someone who supported us while we were still in Phase 1!

VGCA Pool Memberships for Aug 1st thru end of the season are now half price

We are offering 1/2 off our pool memberships effective August 1st. This is a great way to try out the pool and support our greatest asset.

We plan to be open through the end of September…which hasn’t been done in recent years! Making this an added bonus!
