Another VGCA pool season comes to a close

Another successful pool season is in the books!

Some of the key highlights:

  • Concessions sold nearly $1200 in food and drinks.  They turned a profit of $370.  The profit has gone to help fund the concrete pour on the pool deck (removing bricks) and rental of a bobcat skid steer to clear the VGCA tennis courts of debris.
  • 3 lifeguards called the VGCA Pool their “first job” and learned a lot.
  • We had over 100 VGCA Rec/Pool members for the 2nd year in a row.
  • We were open 7 days a week and had extended hours on Saturdays and holidays.
  • Countless hours of fun and many children improved their swimming skills or learned how to swim.

Thank you to all the VGCA Rec/Pool members, volunteers, and our lifeguards who made this a great season.  I am already looking forward to next season and the new group of lifeguards to call the pool their “first job”.

NOTE:  Pool covering is tentatively scheduled for Sept 19 at 615pm.  We will need about 12-15 strong teenagers/adults to give us a hand.

We will try our best to be open the following days/times.  It is all dependent upon availability of lifeguards as we are short staffed due to school, school activities, and scheduled time off.

  • 4-7pm Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs (Aug 29-Sept 1)
  • Closed Friday Sept 2
  • 1-7pm Sat, Sun, Mon Sept 3-5
  • 1-7pm Sat, Sun, Sept 10-11

 

End of season pool hours

Starting Monday, Aug 15th, we will be closing at 7pm each day.

With NN Public Schools starting back August 29, we will be closed during the week (Mon-Fri).  We are attempting to open 4-7pm Mon-Fri that week but it depends on weather and availability of lifeguards.  The same will go for the 2nd weekend of September (Sept 9-11).

We are offering 1/2 off our pool memberships for the rest of the season (a week early so it’s a GREAT deal). This is a great way to try out the pool and support our greatest asset!  The pool is in excellent condition and is maintained by our Village Green volunteers!

We will be open through Labor Day.

Adult Pool Party for ALL VGCA members

VGCA ADULT POOL PARTY

July 16, 2022

7pm-10pm

We are ten days away from our annual VGCA Adult Pool Party, on July 16, 2022 from 7pm-10pm.  This year it will be an 80s themed party with karaoke!

This is a great opportunity for VGCA Adult Members to come out and meet other families!  To make it easy on families, if you do not have a sitter, we will have CPR Certified sitters at the Clubhouse to watch over your kiddos…tips would be appreciated! Games and a movie will be set up for the kids! We ask that each person or couple bring a dish to share and BYOB! Hot Dogs and Hamburgers will be served!

NEEDED: Biathlon timers and enthusiastic family and friends

Timers will be needed this evening.  Let’s cheer on our annual Village Green July 4th Biathlon contestants on.  Come on up to the pool/park a little early as the events start promptly at 6pm.

We will need volunteer timers.  You can use your cell phone and track the start and stop of the swim and then the start and stop of the run.

4th of July Events 2022

Sunday, JULY 3rd

5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MUSIC IN THE PARK:  The VGCA events team will provide family friendly DJ services.  Bring your own dinner/snack and come on out and enjoy a fun filled evening with your family and cheer on our biathlon contestants.

6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. JUNIOR BIATHALON AND BIATHLON: A spirited race around VG with your family and friends.  The Junior Biathlon consists of a 50m swim and a ¼ mile run around the park for children 8yrs and under. The Biathlon consists of a 250m swim and a 1.1 mile run for all ages and skill levels.  Either go it alone or team up with someone.  Signup online here:  Junior VGCA 4th of July Biathlon or VGCA 4th of July Biathlon

Monday, JULY 4th

9:00 a.m. DECORATE THE PARK: Come on out and help dress up the park for the day’s activities. Set up tables and attach festive decorations. Claim your spot on the grounds! A great way to get into the spirit and help make the park look right for the occasion.

10:00 a.m. UNCLE SAM’S BIKE PARADE: Fun for all!! Decorate your bikes and yourselves in your most patriotic colors and join in as we parade around the Green. The parade will be led by OUR local fire department, workload permitting.  Neighbors, rest on your porch and cheer us on as we pass by.  Participants gather at the clubhouse at 9:50 a.m.

10:45 a.m. NATIONAL ANTHEM: We will honor America and our flag with the playing of the National Anthem.

10:45 a.m. Village Green Swim Team Carnival: The swim team will have carnival games as well as raising money.  Tickets can be purchased with cash and help fund the swim team.  Please come out and support them.  Thank you!

12:00 p.m. PICNIC IN THE PARK: Bring your favorite foods and enjoy a picnic with your neighbors while listening to music!

12:00 p.m. POOL IS OPEN FOR VGCA REC MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS ONLY:  We will have some pool games around 1pm.  It’s never too late to support our neighborhood and become a pool member at https://vgnn.org/join.

First annual Junior Village Green 4th of July Biathlon. Kids 8 and under are encouraged to participate in the Junior Village Green 4th of July Biathlon. See below for additional details and to sign up. Parents…come out and help make this a great event for your kids and get the 4th of July celebration started early!
  • When: 6:00pm on July 3rd (arrive no later than 5:45pm)
  • Where: Pool and Village Green Park
  • Who: VGCA Rec/Pool members and their guests that are 8 years and under
  • What: Starts with a 50m swim (down and back) and finishes with a 1/4 mile run around the park.
  • There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.

2022 VGCA 4th of July Biathlon

The annual Village Green 4th of July Biathlon.

Parents challenge your kids. Kids challenge your parents and friends. Everyone come out and help make this a great event and let’s kick off the 4th of July celebration early! See below to sign up.

  • When: 630pm on July 3rd (arrive no later than 6:15pm)
  • Where: Pool and Village Green Park
  • Who: VGCA Rec/Pool members and their guests — race as individual or a team.
  • What: Starts with a 250m swim (10 lengths of the pool) and finishes with a 1.1 mile run around Village Green Parkway.
  • There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for individuals as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for team entrees.
